Well, when I say " ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Well, when I say "genius." =P
Monty Python is the sort of thing that actually spoofs things in a way that's funny and sometimes silly, but usually intelligent. Often, there will be some underlying joke; it's funny if you don't get it, but it's even funnier if you do. From what I've seen of Family Guy, it seems to just put the
humor there, leave it as it is, and it's often immature... though I can laugh at some of it, I usually just don't find it too funny.
Rainstar: Don't get ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's as great as Python. :P
But FG makes alot of referential jokes, mostly out of nowhere at certain people you may have never heard of. One time, a character mentioned Benjamin Disraeli and they showed a clip of him where he just said, 'You don't even know who I am.' Yes, it's immature, but I don't think it's COMPLETELY ta
steless. MP is slightly immature at times. ;)

Of course it's immature at times. I don't think there have ever been any comedy shows that aren't immature at all.
I haven't seen too much of Family Guy. I have seen it come out with some pretty darn funny stuff, but it doesn't seem like they actually put too much effort into their scripts; the jokes, as I've seen, tend to be over-the-top, sort of thrown down. Like The Simpsons and South Park smashed together
with no warning... just not something I'd personally find funny. =P Just me, though.
Rainstar: I ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: I actually think FG is better than Simpsons and I never caught on to South Park. But that's just me. ;)
Yeah, I never ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Yeah, I never watched either of them faithfully, but judging by what my friends have made me watch, that's the impression I get from FG.
Rainstar: Well it's ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: Well it's the same in that it's an 'adult' sort of cartoon show, but I don't think any of them are similar to one another.
FG seems to focus less on a 'plot' and more on gags, which is what I like. It's just another form of random, irreverent and zany humor I like. Along with Looney Tunes, Mel Brooks, and of course Python. ;)
Mel Brooks on a ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Mel Brooks on a whole tends to do this thing where it follows a plot for a while, and then toward the end just gets completely off on a tangent, though it's not intelligent in itself. =P Python makes a huge joke out of the fact that its script writers have major attention deficit issues, hence, "And now for something completely different!"
And Looney Tunes was a 30s cartoon with rabbits in it. It's excused. Mindless humor is an acquired taste, I suppose. =P
Rainstar: Not all ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: Not all humor has to have a point to it.
Not all of us feel like laughing at Dennis Miller. :P
Lulz... I've heard ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Lulz... I've heard of him... who is he? =P
I do like most of Mel Gibson's stuff... Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles, for instance, have substance to their humor. Spaceballs does not.
Rainstar: He's a ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: He's a comedian, tends to focus on politic in his stand-up and is known for making obscure references to different areas of knowledge.
Humor with substance is good, I'll give you that. But it's nice to watch somethings that just make you laugh just 'cause they do. You can't really judge what 'good' comedy is, since like I said, what people like is different. So better to focus on what makes us laugh than what doesn't, I say.
Meh, didn't say ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Meh, didn't say anything was good. Just said they had substance.
I take light humor in small doses. Like 4-minute spoofs of Disney movies. I have a short attention span when it comes to some things.
Rainstar: So you ... ( 2 months ago by NGS712)
Rainstar: So you don't like 'Mindless' humor and you don't seem to like everything with 'substance'.
So tell me, . . . what the hell type of humor DO you like? :P
Okay. My tastes ... ( 2 months ago by Rainstarhasastick)
Okay. My tastes tend to vary depending on what mood I'm in, but since that's been sort of erratic today... I enjoy pointless humor once and a while, but it tends to get tiresome or repetitive very quickly, which I'm not generally in favor of... and other than that, humor that has some degree of intelligence is usually what I go for.
What I meant by "didn't say anything was good," I mean I didn't judge anything by saying it was either good or bad. I can't think today, my brain is melting.

A Nazi like teacher in a german class :p.
Good thing is I've had the same teacher for the past three years. And almost everyone in German has had him before.

Aaron: 'A Nazi like teacher in a german class'
Yes, hence the irony. But seriously she was a bitch and EVERYONE hated her. Only German teacher in the high school too.
