But historically ... ( 2 months ago by Uppity33)
But historically technology has always out paced the use of natural resources. What about hydrogen engines? What about hybrid cars that get 100 mpg? In time those will replace regular cars. Also mans knowledge and innovation is exponentially increasing. Also even if everything they say is true then it will take several decades. We'll all be old and grey or dead by then. Leave that to out kids to figure it out.

By researching other possibilities and thinking through them. I'm not sure what you are asking. My response was to the guy assuming I had done no research because I disagreed with the film (many aspects of it). And no I'm not going to post a rebuttal to the film in a 500 character limited text field. There is lots of stuff out there if you want to take a look, and if you don't, don't. It doesn't matter to me.

I hope people pay attention to this!! But because the large majority live in the burbs, they refuse to listen. As there life is just perfect, an hours drive to work, and hours drive home, 30 minutes to the kids soccer match, 30 mins to Wal-Mart and Target, all in the comfort of an SUV. WHAT A FANTASTIC LIFE!!!......NOT!!!

I guess now, Africa and other "third world" nations traditional way of village life don't seem so primitive after all. They have always had the right idea. However our ignorance and arrogance blinded us to that reality. Now, we will learn the HARD WAY.

A reall eye opener. I think we should all go out and rent Mad max3.This is going to be our future. But Just think about it. As human beings are we really considering changing our way of life or do we just watch a doc such as this and ponder for 1/2 hr about our impeding self destruction make grandiose statements and eventually go back on the road to humanities eradication.THINK ABOUT IT !!

Well said. But then again, we *are* making these comments (you included) on a medium which consumes collectively a fairly high rate of electricity... (not to mention the materials needed to construct said computers, or what the affect is environmentally once they outlive their 3-5 year lifespan and have to be - at this point - thrown away.. ) It's a catch 22 at this point. Hopefully, clearer heads will prevail & come up with a compromise - or an alternative - to our current way of living.

I hate suburbia because I realized in Southern California corporate developers build these houses on natural habitats in the mountains that are annually prone to wildfires during summer and fall and mudslides during winter and spring.

Living in the Suburbs makes me feel like I will end up like those fat people in WallE. But if I want my own house it better come with lot of space. Like enough to grow crops and raise animals. Not some box with a small backyard and front yard. But I still love real city life with all the people around you and the fact that my apartment is above a restaurant and bar.

We are the kids.
Tech isn't energy. Tech doesn't produce energy. All tech has enabled us to do historically is enabled us to extract and exploit increasingly energy-dense sources of energy from the planet. Well they're just about all nearly at peak - uranium, coal, oil, and gas. Nothing we have available short of
cold fusion, which might not even be possible, can replace more than a fraction of the energy we're now getting. Hydrogen is not a source of energy since it takes energy to make.
