What is wrong is when simple minded dimwits comment about music they have no understanding of. to all math/tech metal wankers: it's not about the odd time signatures, the harmony, the math equations... it's about the expression. take king crimson for example. much better band than S.A. the reason is, they have an expression, an idea. don't worry, i know your answer, i don't understand the music because i am ignorant (ah, the irony). btw. anyone can learn to move his fingers very fast, but not all can express themselves with an instrument. it takes talent to develop that.

ive seen plenty of people saying that about guitarists or drummers or band like here...and it seems that musisians are playing with expression or with the heart when its 4/4 or its slow and simple...when you see plenty of tech you see people saying its all tech there's no expression...on what basis you say king krimson have more expression then them? i can say its more boring because less is going on during the song...

how do you know i'm frustrated? or you just made a conclusion based on nothing? since you didn't understand my point... i wanted to say that the music sucks because it lacks feelings. take jaco for example, he is a mastermind. also astor piazzola, herbie hancock, chick corea, morgan agren, meshuggah... all of them, great musicians, fast playing motherfuckers, but their music is awesome. i like those guys, not these, look at me i can play fast, wankers called spiral architect.

Doesn't mean that they're any good. You're just trying to overcome his subjectivity with more subjectivity. I think trying to write off the wall music (odd times or atonal) is interesting. It's a mental exercise if nothing else, to see if you can compose something that sounds musical in the medium

That being said, I do think Spiral Architect focuses too much on the technical. They have some interesting ideas, but I do think the music lacks "expressiveness".

Technical musicianship doesn't mean it's not focused on feeling in the music. The one does not exclude the other as a lot of people seem to think. Music like this takes longer to sink in than most other music (often less technical in nature)

My favorite bands are the "expressive" ones such as King Crimson and early Genesis, but I love Spiral Architect too. When I first listened to the album, I didn't like it very much because every song sounded the same. Only until the 7th listen of the album I found it to be surprisingly expressive and well arranged. Some bands are just harder to keep up with. you gotta keep trying to "get it"
