Yeah I had to really reflect back to see how BDP would influence PE to be the biggest militant/political rap group of all time. But I see it, PE's first album Bumrush the Show wasn't afrocentric, not the slightest. Also don't forget the Bass era that was going on at the time. Rebel w/o Pause has a bass rhythm on par if not better than any bassing rap song from today all the way back to the Beastie Boys or Run DMC's Together Forever. Word its good to reflect on the days when rap was hype.

i just like 2 post rakim and kool g rap came out in '86. kane was like a year later.he made them step their game up faster though[lyrically] and criminal minded[the album] wasn't afrocentric either.kool g rap and big daddy kane came up in the same breath because of the juice crew. rakim was sum other shit.

I know u didn't just say that Kane made the R step his game up. U must be smoking some extra potent dog shit. The R made everybody step their game up lyrically. Their hasn't been an emcee before or after Rakim that came close to his lyrical content. Kane is nice but he didn't even have the hottest verse on this song, that honour goes to G Rap

i don't no who u r and i don't really care.i'm in my late 30's and was around when this was a "new"joint.1st off i had 2 read bak what i earlier wrote and will apologize if i sounded dismissive of rakim.when i said sum other shit i meant he was at another higher level of mc'ing, he is my favorite, but bak 2 your comments no i don't smoke dog shit extra potent or otherwise.

when this record was new the standout was kane(put a quarter in your ass was slang) even though kool g rap had the hotter verse i reiterate the standout was kane
I would have to ... ( 1 month ago by THOUSANDAlRE)
I would have to strongly disagree, the line you mentioned was really the only standout line in Kane's whole verse. Kool G Rap's verse was pure fire from beginning to end. That's why G Rap was given the honour of going last on part 2 of the Symphony. I'm in my 30's also and was around when this came out so I'm not just some young ignorant kid commenting.

anyone who knows anything about rap from this era knows that kane's part in this song is better than anyone else's. i like this entire song, and actually consider it one of my favorites. but big daddy kane is the man. REALLY RAW.

The one thing about ... ( 1 week ago by blkhse1)
The one thing about this joint here is that you have a crew of ill M.C.s on the Juice Crew during that era.Everyone is going to have there own opinion about who ripped it the hardest, which is all good..G rap is my man no doubt, but there is no denying the way Kane just elevated his bars on this joint.

i'm sorry my dude i love kool g rap and it is really close but this is kane's era as far as the juice crew.he is 2nd only 2 rakim and all 3 of them would've crushed krs
It may very well ... ( 2 days ago by THOUSANDAlRE)
It may very well have been kane's era but my point again is that he didn't have the best verse on this song. And as far as krs goes, there aren't a handful of emcees in history who could ever "crush" him, they might win by a slight margin but nobody's gonna crush him. His freestyle ability is legendary
i sent u a response ... ( 2 days ago by dajhedi)
i sent u a response that didn't post so i'll try again.1.kane's verse is better2.kane and kool g made rakim step up .go back listen 2 paid in full then follow the leader.3.krs ego is legendary
what cats didn't ... ( 1 day ago by hanbone76)
what cats didn't know is that Kane wrote his verse over after G Rap said his.Marley Marl said in an interview that Kool G Rap spit his bars so long that the reel to reel snapped.the verse you actually hear on the song is cut short by 24 bars.
fine, that's your ... ( 1 day ago by THOUSANDAlRE)
fine, that's your opinion and your entitled to it, however wrong it may be. In my opinion kane's verse isn't even better than master ace's. The only person that made Rakim step up is Rakim. I don't see how kane could make the r step up when kane never spit anything half as deep as the things ra said. rakim is the one that put kane on to the gods and earths teachings

nah dude kane never ... ( 6 hours ago by THOUSANDAlRE)
nah dude kane never took my girl but the way you keep fawning over him it sounds like you wanna be his girl. I like kane and dude is a legend and all but nobody, repeat-NOBODY is on Rakim's level. And I do remember Kane taking a shot at Ra, "I don't follow leaders/they make me laugh/cuz when I'm in effect/they feel the wrath of kane" but then abruptly editing that line out when he found out Rakim was about to release Rip the Wrath in Half. Kane knew he ain't want it with the god.
