| One expansion of this thought:.. We have hundreds of thousands of unfilled positions in nursing and engineering in this country. Many of these positions NEED to be filled by foreign nationals because we do not have enough U.S. CITIZENS graduating with these degrees and entering the field. This country is NOT served by having these positions go unfilled. If we cannot get adequate medical care and if we cannot innovate in this country, we are screwed blue, ladies and gents. |

| Absolutely, wogsland, if reform is not made now to make it easier for people to come here, the economy will continue to sink miserably. Thre crowd pushing for restriction and enforcement is to blame for the non passage of the bills requiered to make the legal process smoother, yo are absolutely right. |

There is not correlation between the skilled workers we "don't have" and the size of the stock markets. | I like to punch this guy face. Most of these people are very nice and work hard. Is not their fault they have no education and if we can give them an apportunity then we should. Amrica economy is very well and if would be nice if you could just pay a little more of tax to help other human being. | Why can't we train smart laid off Americans to work these jobs which would help fuel back the economy instead of trying to protect low income jobs from undocumented workers? Are we doing the math right? We are destroying our middle class with our own stupidity, if we would have it your way, every American would have a job at McDonalds and Home Depot, but jobs at Microsoft would be filled by "super dooper skilled workers". There are over 20 million illegals here, they cost far more than what they contribute, they degrade whole neighborhoods, they are a major cause of crime (Over 30% in prison are illegal), They have a negative impact on the public education system and they are already the majority in many of the southwest & western states, and will soon be majority in the USA. | First of all, I like the way you just wrote off Africa. There is a sizable amount of skilled Africans that fill nurses, doctors and especially engineering posts in the United States. There are more Africans in American Universities than African Americans. Secondly, as a European working in the US i think immigration is good but not everyone can live here. |

| America needs to get tough on immigration. If we adopt the laws Mexico has we would have no problem. I love legal immigrants of all races but I hate illegal immigrants. Many Illegals do not care about America and take advantage of our health care system. It is not prejudice to want illegals out of our country. It starts with all of us contacting our government officials and letting them know enough is enough! Trust me if we do not do it now we are going to be in big trouble in many ways!!! |

| I agree. We need educated and hard working new Americans not unskilled laborers without a high school degree who are easily swayed to commit crimes and use our community services. Take Asians for example, they are our model ethnic minority. |

| We got ourselves a winner! Someone who is illiterate, misinformed, unwilling to lookup facts and spreads the misinformation. 300k graduates and 150k jobs - that leaves 150k jobless, not 50k. Nice Math there Mary! Lets examine the FACTS in this comment: 300K CompSci graduates? Only if you include Canada and Mexico. There were only 185K comp sci graduates in 2006. About 20-30K of these came from outside US. By April, 85% were employed. 65K H1b visas per yr only and not all are for IT jobs. |

| The way to stop illegal immigration is to fine the employers who give them jobs and the landlords who rent to the. When these people see that they are losing money because of the fines, they'll stop doing it. Then the illegals will stop coming because they will know that it's hard to get a job and a place to stay here. The ones with skills should stay in there home country and help the people in his home country. |

| None of the immigrants who come here are heroes. They have abandoned their own countries and their own people, just for monetary gain. The H1-B immigrants are stealing jobs from the native born, they should be greatly reduced in number. They don't really help our economy, they just transfer wealth from the middle class to the wealthy. |

| Right, jobs can't be stolen the same way that material possessions can be stolen, because people don't "own" jobs, they just "have" jobs. But still, the employer should not have the freedom the give the job to anyone anywhere in the world just because that person is willing to work for less. It doesn't really make sense from an economic point of view either. It makes more sense to just focus on the domestic labor market, not cheaper labor from the global labor market. |

| Mortison: I disagree on principle, on moral, and on utilitarian grounds. And that's a lot of grounds, my friend. Morally, no one can force a person to not freely associate with another person. - It makes perfect sense from an "economic point of view". It is a responsibility of the employer to hire the person who will work the hardest for the least amount of money. It makes no sense whatsoever to only hire people who have been documented by the federal government. Competition = good. |

| How is the environment affected by increased population in the U.S.? Cite any evidence. Is the evidence strong enough that guns need to be pointed at humans who are only trying to do business with other humans? The biggest polluter in the world is the government. Do you want the biggest polluter to be in charge of the environment? Seriously, show the studies that give the optimum population of our landmass. There are countries that are doing fine with twice the population density of the U.S. |
