...yes it is john cale but in fact he plays the piano on this track which is the original soundtrack not corresponding with the images shown here...see john cale as his best on violin watch venus in furs...

I remember seeing John Cale perform solo in a tiny club in Boston in the early 80s. Just him an electric piano. I still think Vintage Violence is one of the best albums ever made. I also enjoy his live version of Sabotage. Did you know he was offered a scholarship and studied avant-garde music under Aaron Copeland? John was a classical music prodigy. He also performed with John Cage, but gave up the avant-garde scene for when he met Lou Reed.

Sorry to be pedantic but, he played electric viola, not violin. He was a beast of classical tunes no doubt! It is generally accepted that Lou brought the words and the rock and roll sensibility, whilst Cale brought the avant garde asthetic??? spellnig??? (sorry, why the suck cant i fink of spellng??) Anhows, how Lou took control is legendary, but i still say it was a 50 ta 50 effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh tickle me down to my toes God i feel so lucky me and friends were astute enough to reach back to Velvet Underground in our youth. Priceless times, 20 years after they did the songs. Part of the soundtrack to my growing up.

Fukin' awesome song from an all-time calssic album & band. Remember, this was *1968*, people! Same time everyone else was going all peace n luv - soo before their time. And yeah Maureen Tucker was a full-on crazy drummer... (btw, not surprised there was a cop in the room - for whatever reason lol)
