You might have heard of the Swedish midsummer tradition, the day when everybody in Sweden gets drunk and dance around a Maypole. Anyway, last year IKEA Germany produced commercials where they made fun of the swedes and their Midsummer tradition. The commercials got banned by the head office at IKEA Sweden (IKEA is a Swedish company).

Who cares how rich Ingvar Kamprad is? He's not paying this from his own pocket, but from the company advertising budget. And of course you are right, they CAN afford it. But what I mean is that there's no sense in affording it because the expense is in no relation to the expected gain! Broadcasting this spot just ONCE on german television would cost approximatly 100.000 EUR. If IKEA would throw its money away like this, they'd certainly not be in such good shape. This spot is nothin but a joke.

its weird how it's always the people clips like these doesn't refer to, that always seem offended. i have a lot of Swedish friends and they all think it freakin hilarious. when you put a negative emphasis on something that is obviously meant to be funny, you make the people in the culture involved feel like they should be offended....makes sense to me even though am baked.

At least one swedish person with humor here.^^ We Germans in general have very positive opinions about scandinavians in general and about their way of life (okay, except the school masacres in Finland). I don't think this video wants to insult anyone from Sweden, it is just supost to be funny, nothing else...
