It's one of those tracks from that film. The opening and ending music used in this short comes from an album by Yuji Ohno called "Cosmos" (literally the first and last track of that record), though a little of his work from Lupin III gets heard too (2nd TV series and Castle of Cagliostro).

actually, the animation was crappy even then. It was made by otaku college students. But the animation itself was quite ambitious. Btw, it was made by hideaki anno who did Neon Genesis Evangelion and other future Gainax staff.

Daicon III and IV predated Nausicaa by several years; however, the design for the girl in these anime were indeed influenced by Miyazaki--particularly Princess Clarisse from Castle of Cagliostro, the Lupin the 3rd film he directed--with more emphasis on the face and hair than the body...
